What is the Northeast Minnesota Radio Advisory
Committee and Regional Radio Board? The Northeast Minnesota Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) brings agencies together to approve a joint powers and form a Regional Radio Board (RRB). Until the Regional Radio Board is formed, the Regional Advisory Committee is the conduit for State radio grant money. The Regional Radio Board can apply for and receive grants on behalf of one or more member counties. The RAC is responsible for developing and implementing regional interoperability plans, policies and procedures. It can apply for and hold licenses for public safety frequencies to be used regionally and locally. The Northeast Radio Board is responsible for coordination with the State Radio Board and can contract with State agencies and local subdivisions for management of local radio sub-systems.
